Environmental Management Plan and Abbreviated Resettlement Action Plan (Tete Transmission Mains – Design and Build)

Design and build of 25km transmission main, DN 350 mm to connect Moatize to Tete system and new pipeline from Nhartanda to WTP, 1km, DN 500 mm, Tete (Contract reference FIPAG/WASISII/W-9/15) which comprises of the engineering design and construction of 25 km transmission mains, rehabilitation of around 1 km of the existing transmission mains including connections to the existing and future pumping stations. There was a need to relocate around 208 people within the corridor of impact of the transmissions mains. Following national legislation, World Bank Environmental and Social Safeguards policies and international best practice, to mitigate economic, cultural, and other social impacts, appropriate mitigation measures have been provided, such as the elaboration of an Abbreviated Resettlement Action Plan and Environmental and Social Management Plan to followed by the contractor of works, in compliance with the WASIS II environmental and social management framework (ESMF) and Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF).
