ESIA, RAP Scoping and Implementation for Rehabilitation and Upgrading of N1 Road,

and Sofala Province Once the activities plan was concluded and approved by ANE, SW MOZ-SVOSVE undertook a census survey on Project Affected Persons (PAPs) livelihood conditions. This data from the social survey was complemented by the focus groups and interviews with affected people and local authorities:

The full ESIA was comprised of:

  • Compilation and co-ordination of local ESIA team
  • Scoping for ESIA, including gathering and review of all existing data, site visit, initial consultation and meetings with government agencies
  • Co-ordination of technical baseline studies ecology and socio-economic)
  • Assessment of potential environmental and social impacts
  • Framework Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
  • Framework Social Management Plan (SMP)
  • Preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Statement, including framework EMP and SMP
